End Internet Censorship

End Internet Censorship

Internet censorship is a noble idea proven wrong, and that is why it’s best to have no internet censorship at all.

Internet censorship of any kind, no matter how justifiable, is a slippery slope.

Internet censorship starts by demonizing offensive words, like the ‘N’ word, and everyone consents to the censorship because the ‘N’ word will insult people and hurt their feelings.

Then, in addition to the ‘N’ word, you find that you can longer say several other words that are offensive. Okay. Still a good thing. We have to stop hate, right?

Next thing you know, you have an entire dictionary of banned words, terms, phrases, and opinions, with a centralized, biased authority to determine what speech is good and bad.

If they don’t like your political or religious expressions, they can unilaterally determine that your speech is “hateful” or “harmful” or “misinformation.”

One of the reasons we must end internet censorship is that censorship only magnetizes bad ideas. When the internet bans people, some will assume, “There must be some truth in what Person X was saying, or else, the authorities would not have banned him/her.”

Censorship ignites a spark for public interest, and the banned person becomes a martyr.

The way to defeat bad, harmful ideas is with debate and better ideas, not censorship. This is why we must end internet censorship now.

Internet censorship gives credibility to the hate and misinformation it seeks to eradicate.

The Power of Big Tech Internet Censorship

Internet censorship is rampant due to the power of Big Tech and their control over search engines, social media, and other digital spaces. They can monitor what you post online, where you go online, who you talk to online, even down to what words you use in your posts and messages.

This gives them the ability to decide for themselves which type of speech is acceptable and which isn’t. This kind of virtual censorship impacts freedom of expression, as people tend to self-censor out of fear that they might say something considered offensive or inappropriate.

How Does Internet Censorship Harm the Public?

While labeling any dissenting viewpoints as “misinformation,” Internet censors allow state-backed misinformation all the time.

Politicians, corporations, and influencers spread false propaganda over the airwaves daily. Think about it:

  • “Inflation is transitory.”
  • “The vaccine is 95% effective.”
  • “If you take the vaccine, you won’t get COVID.”

These are just three of countless recent memory misinformation/disinformation statements given by ‘experts.’ Imagine the REAL harm that misinformation like this causes!

But if you say that the vaccine may not be safe, you are banned — misinfomation!

How Can Web 3 & Hashtag Org Help to Stop Internet Censorship?

Web 3 and Hashtag Org are striving to end internet censorship once and for all. They are creating an ecosystem of decentralized governance where people can express their opinions without fear of repercussions or censorship.

Hashtag Org is also building trustless systems that allow users to post content without revealing personal information like IP addresses or locations, as well as the ability to reward content creators with tokens, instead of relying on likes or other forms of engagement.

This will create a free, open environment where people can express themselves without fear of censorship or repercussions. This is especially important when it comes to topics like politics and religion, as well as any kind of dissent from the status quo.

What Gets You Banned on Social Media?

Social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube have stringent guidelines in place to protect their users from hate speech or any other kind of offensive content. Any posts that are deemed to be “abusive”, “trolling”, or contain “harassment” can result in an immediate ban.

Additionally, social media networks often censor topics that are deemed politically sensitive or socially controversial. Posts related to conspiracy theories, racism, homophobia, and other objectionable topics can also result in a ban.

Finally, any posts that contain false information, such as fabricated news stories or exaggerated claims, are not tolerated by most social media platforms. This is due to the harm these types of posts can cause to the public.

Thank click baiters and aggressive marketers for this.

How to Get Around Big Tech Censorship

There are several ways to get around the problem of big tech censorship. One way is to use alternative platforms that don’t censor content or have looser standards for what’s appropriate. Platforms like Parler, Minds, and Gab are good examples of this type of platform.

You can also create your own website or blog, so you can post content without worrying about censorship or algorithms that might suppress your posts.

Finally, you can join decentralized networks like Web 3 and Hashtag Org, which are working to create an open environment where people can express themselves freely and be rewarded for their content.
